Bush Renews Call to Ban Gay Marriage

TOPEKA, Kan. - President Bush (news - web sites) on Monday renewed his call for Congress to pass a constitutional amendment banning gay marriages.

On the same day that Massachusetts began issuing licenses to gay couples, Bush said in a statement, "The sacred institution of marriage should not be redefined by a few activist judges." (really funny considering how he got into office!!)

In the statement, read aboard Air Force One by White House press secretary Scott McClellan while traveling to Topeka, Kan., Bush said that "all Americans have a right to be heard in this debate."

Noting that he had called on Congress some time ago to pass a constitutional amendment banning such marriages, Bush said "the need for that amendment is still urgent, and I renew that call today." (translates to - more horrible pictures of tortured prisoners are about to surface and I need to divert attention)

Although Bush has not actively put pressure on Congress to pass the measure, (because really they dont care and they know it will never passthey just want to fire up the right wing for a while to divert attention) McClellan said the White House had been "in close contact with members of Congress" in an attempt to get the measure moving.

First off does anyone know why he was in Kansas? He was there to commemorate 50 year old ban on school segregation. Here's a qoute from this morning, "The habits of racism in America have not all been broken," Bush said. "The habits of respect must be taught to every generation."

Wow. He called racism a habit. A habit. So he starts out this morning making excuses for racism and then goes on to attack gay marriage. Apparently his statement from this morning doesnt apply to the afternoon topic. I guess we dont have to respect gay peoples rights.

Hes threatened by two people who want to publicly vow to love each other for life. Yeah, thats the biggest threat facing our country right now. We definitely need less love and more war.

Maybe the Pentagon could put together some sort of traveling, road show. Kind of like an anti-Lilith Fair. They could call it the Down with Love up with War Fair. On the various small stages and booths they could demonstrate ways to humiliate and belittle people, they could give out bibles with irrelevant passages randomly highlighted and hold seminars about how to make bucket loads of money with little care for the environment or the law. And most importantly how to hoard and protect your money. And then on the main stage they could parade out various Iraqi prisoners and torture them for our entertainment all the while the President could be preaching in the background about how the only father he speaks to is the Holy Father. I guess if the tour doesnt come to your town you can just turn on the evening news.

Its becoming increasingly embarrassing to live in this country.
